KARATE: JKA Hawaii

Japan Karate Association (JKA)
Founded in 1948, the Japan Karate Association (JKA) has been widely recognized for its contributions to society. On March 21, 2012, JKA was officially recognized as a Public Interest Incorporated Association by the Prime Minister of Japan. The organization is committed to refining and promoting the practice of Karatedo through rigorous research and instruction. By fostering technical excellence and self-discipline, JKA contributes to the well-being of individuals while cultivating a strong martial arts spirit. Furthermore, it seeks to promote global harmony by sharing the values of Japanese martial arts—rooted in respect and courtesy—throughout the world.
JKA Hawaii proudly teaches Shotokan Karate, the most widely practiced Japanese karate style, developed by Gichin Funakoshi. It is the only karate school in Hawaii affiliated with the Japan Karate Association, ensuring that all JKA ranks earned here are recognized worldwide.
