Grade 3

Welcome to Third Grade at St. Patrick School!
Transitioning to third grade is an exciting milestone in a child’s educational journey. At St. Patrick School, we provide a nurturing and structured environment that fosters academic success, social development, and personal growth. Through our Cooperative Learning Model, third graders engage in small group activities that promote positive interactions, creative problem-solving, and confidence in their learning journey.
Academic and Social Development
In third grade, students experience a shift from learning to read to reading to learn. They engage in deeper comprehension, critical thinking, and more complex assignments across core subjects:

Social Studies: Students gain a greater understanding of USA and the world through studies of Our Community , Communities of the World. Socially, third graders develop stronger friendships and learn teamwork and communication skills. They are encouraged to take on greater responsibility by managing their assignments and time effectively.
21st Century Skills and Multiple Literacies
Our curriculum is designed to equip third graders with the essential skills they need for success in the modern world. Learning is student-centered, project-based, and research-driven, ensuring relevance to real-life situations. Students develop various literacies, such as:

Cognitive development is enhanced by engaging students in higher-order thinking and problem-solving activities.
Building Independence and Responsibility
Third graders are encouraged to make choices about their learning and daily routines, fostering independence and responsibility. They are given structured opportunities to develop self-management skills through goal setting and time management. Teachers provide guidance and support while encouraging students to take ownership of their learning.
