Grade 5

Welcome to 5th Grade at Saint Patrick School! In our 5th grade classroom, students embark on an exciting and challenging year that builds a strong academic foundation while preparing them for the transition to middle school. As a Catholic school, we integrate faith and values into every aspect of learning, helping students grow academically, spiritually, and socially.

Our curriculum is designed to meet key educational benchmarks, ensuring that each child develops the essential skills needed for future success.

In Math, students will complete operations such as multi-digit multiplication and division, fractions, decimals, geometry, and volume. They will gain a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts that will set them up for success in the years ahead.

In Reading and Writing, 5th graders engage with a wide range of literature, analyzing characters, themes, and plot development. Their writing skills are developed through a variety of assignments, including essays, narratives, and reports, helping them communicate with clarity and creativity.

Our Science program provides hands-on exploration in areas like Earth science, physical science, and life science. Students study ecosystems, weather patterns, and the properties of matter, encouraging curiosity and critical thinking.

In Social Studies, students dive into American history and government. They explore key historical events, cultural influences, and the responsibilities of citizenship, fostering a well-rounded understanding of the world around them.

As a Catholic school, faith plays a central role in our students’ daily lives. Through regular prayer, religious education, and service projects, our 5th graders deepen their relationship with God and learn the values of compassion, respect, and service to others. We work to instill a strong sense of moral responsibility and spiritual growth alongside academic achievement.
