Grade 1

In First Grade we will survey the following subjects and skills to prepare us for the future:

Religion: daily religion and prayer, weekly church
Spelling: phonograms, spelling exercises, and weekly spelling tests
Reading: learning to read with fluency using phonogram application and comprehension activities

Grammar: learning parts of speech which will lead into independent writing
Math: addition, subtraction, numbers to 100 and beyond, graphing, time/measurement, geometry
Social Studies: comparing life today to life in the past, America’s journey to becoming a country, economics
Science: 4 units on plants, animals, light, and sky aligned with NGSS
